About Us
Who We Are
Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (CAC/IT/NO. 26422) and Governed by a Functional 9-member Board of Trustees.
Our approach is community-centered, rights-based, and collaborative.
Scripture Union West Africa (SUWA) is a faith-rooted, non-profit organization working across Nigeria to build resilient communities where peace, dignity, and opportunity thrive. Founded in 2003, SUWA was born from the urgent need to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic and its impact on families and communities.
Over the years, we’ve expanded our reach to cover various development needs including women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, peacebuilding, and support for vulnerable children and families.

Whether you're an individual, institution, donor, or partner, we invite you to be a part of SUWA’s journey. Together, we can build peaceful, resilient communities and create real transformation—one life at a time.
Why we Exist
We believe that transformation begins at the grassroots level. We understand the complexity of the challenges facing vulnerable populations—poverty, gender-based violence, youth unemployment, conflict, environmental degradation, and poor health access—and we respond with empathy, relevance, and innovation.
We don’t just intervene. We equip, empower, and walk alongside the communities we serve.
How we Work
We apply a community-driven approach, where we listen first, co-create solutions with local stakeholders, and deliver interventions that align with cultural values and local strengths.
Our work is deeply embedded in:
Faith-based values
Gender equity
Rights-based development
Evidence and results
We work in partnership with communities, local leaders, civil society groups, churches, schools, and government agencies to ensure inclusive and sustainable outcomes.
